My name is David J. Hammer and I am a character animator. I mainly do 3d character animation, but I have been trained in classical, 2d animation as well. I currently reside near Seattle, Washington, recently obtaining my Bachelor's Degree in Digital Art, with an emphasis on computer animation.
I grew up on Disney cartoons, the feature length movies and their short films, and I have always loved to draw. Ever since I got to tour the animation department of Disney in Florida as a young kid, I have dreamed of becoming an animator.
It wasn't until my senior year of high school that I began to pursue that dream. I found a computer animation course offered at a nearby high school, and I enrolled. We weren't given much computer time in that course, but I was hooked. I went through the animation course at Henry Cogswell College in Everett, Washington and finished with my Bachelor's Degree in Spring of 2003. The highlight of my education was studying classical, hand drawn animation with the legendary Tony White.
Upon graduation, I am still looking for my first full time animation job. I recently completed my first freelance animation job for the Seattle Seahawks through the Victory Studios in Seattle. My ultimate dream is to become a character animator in the feature film industry.
